Life is like a journey and you, as well as every other person, are starting on
different mark and unto different destination. We all have a common meeting place which is the way. Boy oh boy we sure are very many on this journey.
One of the central characteristic determinants of life is movement. While this is true for every living thing, we as human must learn to interchange
movement for progress.
Life to us is not just movement but progress, as such, everyone is striving for progress each day and at every given opportunity. We all seek to become a better version of ourselves. Even when you are not equipped with the required mental capability to think that way (a child), others strive to ensure you become a better version of you. An irony I have found is that a good number of young people often fall into following the cultural scape that suggest to us that life does not require development of any additional skills and that our natural instincts are enough but contrary to popular opinion it requires a whole lot of skills to stay on your path and not be distracted by your fellow road users.
Have you ever witnessed a driver engrossed in deep thought at a traffic light that he could not notice when the light turns green? Sometime in 2013 when Range Rover sport; second generation sport came into the market: a lot of other car owners always forget themselves in traffic while staring at the British luxury mid-size SUV and at such moments, they loose focused on the road and are left at the mercies of blaring horn. A lot of us are like those drivers. Super distracted by our fellow travellers forgetting that our initial location and our chosen destination are not the same. Have you observed that it is within that brief moment of waiting for the light to turn green that you get distracted by what the other man is driving? The kind of rims he is using.
How flashy are his clothes and jewelleries? Etc. If you are in this category
here is your blaring horn, “everyone is on a peculiar journey and focus is
imperative for successful arrival.”
How then do we stay focus on our path despite this overwhelming traffic of life around us? Be intentional about progress and contentment with what you are while working towards what you can be. In simpler terms celebrate your small wins and give yourself a pat on the shoulder sometimes.
